INDONESIA PREPARES 2.3 MILLION LIVESTOCK FOR EID AL ADHA SACRIFICE
04 July 2022
The government of Indonesia is planning to prepare 2.3 million animals for the Eid al Adha sacrifice without importing and providing local livestock, stated an agricultural ministry representative. For Aid al Adha which falls on July 9 in Indonesia 882.266 cows, 27.179 buffaloes, 952.390 goats, and 408.025 sheep were prepared for sacrificial worship.

Considering that Indonesia was excluded from the World Organization for Animal health list, acknowledging the country is not vulnerable to animal diseases, this year’s festival is becoming challenging. The disease has affected more than 200 thousand cattle across the country with a significantly low level of recovery. The government has launched measures to strengthen disease control through the allocation of disinfectant medicine and tightening livestock traffic among regions to prevent transfers of infections.
