On March 11, 2021, the IOFS team conducted a virtual meeting with Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) to discuss the creation of the Center of Excellence in BRRI. Such collaboration between the institutions would benefit not only the involved parties but also OIC countries and their agricultural and institutional development.
The BRRI already had a similar experience in training and capacity building in Malaysia and Indonesia, and is willing to share it. At the meeting, the IOFS proposed to schedule the first meeting/training of CoE for rice in BRRI in the beginning of June 2021.
IOFS is to draft a memorandum of understanding and tentative plan of action regarding activities within CoE such as training, sharing best practices and research papers, as well as being involved in different events related to rice development and food security.
The parties appointed focal points from each side and agreed to hold regular meetings to monitor the implementation processes.
