Theme: What do you imagine Africa looks like?

What gift would you present to your future friend from Africa?

Deadline: 1 December 2022

Open to: Children between the ages of 5-10 and 11-16 from the following orphanages:

1) Communal State Institution "Center for Support of Children in Difficult Life Situations of the Mayor’s Office of Astana", Akkol"

2) Communal State Institution "Children's home ‘Tansholpan’ Karaganda"

3) Communal State Institution "Center for Supporting Children in Difficult Life Situations of the Mayor’s Office of Astana"

4) Communal State Institution "Center for Support of Children in Difficult Life Situations in Ekibastuz".

DESCRIPTION: The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) is inviting applicants from four orphanages to participate in the IOFS Day Poster Contest. The IOFS Day Poster Contest calls on children to use their imagination to paint a poster that depicts their idea of “What do you imagine Africa looks like?” for the age group from 5-10 years old. And “What gift would you present to your future friend from Africa?” for the age group 11-16. The purpose of the contest is to engage children from orphanages in our Year of Africa program by raising awareness of the issue of food security in Africa and working collectively to fight world hunger.

This is a pilot project, which will be hosted in the headquarters of IOFS in Astana, Kazakhstan. Based on the success of this year’s competition, we hope to host this event on an international level, with the inclusion of children from all OIC member states, next year.

PRIZES: The winners will be selected in each category by a jury from IOFS. The top three poster designs from the two categories will be announced and presented on the IOFS Day Event in Astana on 12 December 2022. The winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will receive a trophy, book and gift bag. Each participant will receive a Certificate of Recognition. The participating orphanages will receive humanitarian aid, in the form of … boxes of fresh dates from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to t he Republic of Kazakhstan.

ELIGIBILITY: Children and youth, aged from 5 to 16, from the list of the four orphanages mentioned above.

Poster entries may be drawn with pencils, charcoal, pens, or painted with acrylic paint, watercolor, oil.  Mixed media and digitally created artwork is also permitted. All artworks must be original. Please send a scan of the artwork to our e-mail: info@iofs.org.kz
